What is the golf course like and what facilities will there be?

The 18-hole, par 70/71 golf course spanning approx. 6.000 m offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside and will provide golfers with an exceptional and diverse golfing experience. Jorge Santana da Silva (golfdesign.pt/), who also designed Quinta do Lago’s Laranjal course, strongly influenced by his experience with Robert Trent Jones, Cabell Robinson, and Bill Boswell, has
developed a philosophy to make his projects maintain a natural landscape, taking advantage of original elements and protecting environmental values. It is a priority to preserve the environment, nature appreciation and maintain natural resources.

Who designed the Golf Course?

The Algarve Golf Property golf course was expertly designed by Jorge Santana da Silva, takes advantage of the original natural features and environmental values of the landscape to create a singular course with two distinct nine hole areas and several river crossings. The natural setting, hilly terrain and river that meanders through the back 9 holes of the course highlight the diverse and challenging layout. Planted areas on the golf course are minimised to enhance its natural environment and reduce water
consumption for irrigation. Although the course covers an area of over 70 hectares in total, the areas planted with grass will only
cover about 25 hectares, which is on average 30% below what is common in most other golf courses. The remaining areas will remain in its natural form. With sustainability in mind, watering systems keep water consumption to a minimum.

Who is constructing the Golf Course?

The Algarve Golf Property golf course construction is being done with the support of one of the world’s best golf eco-label certifications. The course will match the surrounding spectacular landscape with immaculately groomed Bermuda
Riviera grass fairways, Bent grass greens and a service staff committed to creating exceptional experiences for players of all ability levels. The Clubhouse is conveniently located on a hilltop overlooking the golf course and with magnificent views. It houses the reception desk and pro shop, and features a Sports Bar / Grill & Veranda restaurant and outdoor terrace, a Gym, locker rooms with sauna and Jacuzzi, and an outdoor swimming pool (20m x 6m).

When is the golf course going to be ready for play?

The construction of the golf course commenced in November 2016 and has been completed in April 2019, however it will only open officially for play once the clubhouse and hotel construction are complete, which will be in early 2022.

Will you sell golf memberships and green fees, and at what rates?

The course will sell both green fees for pay-and-play leisure golfers and annual golf memberships to those who wish to make
the Algarve Golf Property Resort their home course. Property owners will benefit from discounted rates.

What are the rules and conditions of use of the Algarve Golf Property Resort golf course, for property owners and non-owners?
  • Owners will have a priority over Viceroy hotel guests, other hotels’ clients and all other players.
  • Owners will have some pre-reserved tee times daily from 9.00h to 10.00h (from April to October) and
    from 8.30h to 9.30h (from November to March). These tee times will be offered first to owners all year
    round, however owners cannot book these pre-reserved tee times more than one month in advance.
  • The pre-reserved tee times that are not booked by the owners 48h before, will be released and put at
    the disposal of the hotel clients and to all other clients.
  • Owners will also be able to reserve and play golf out of the pre-reserved tee times, subject to golf tee
    time availability.
  • Owners and non-owners will need to respect the reservation and cancellation
    policies of the golf course, as well as the different dress code, behavior, procedures and other golf
    course policies.

Algarve Golf Property owners are entitled to use their own buggy in the resort, subject to paying the annual buggy path maintenance fee and they can store it and charge it in the buggy area located in the golf clubhouse (electric charging costs apply).

Will owners have special benefits or discounts on the use of the golf facilities at the Algarve Golf Resort?

All owners and their direct family members (children or parents) benefit from price discounts on the
use of the golf facilities:
• 10% discount on all articles in the golf pro shop
• 15% discount on food & beverage in the clubhouse restaurant
